# thai-auto-data

> Open data on the Thai car market: monthly NEW vehicle registrations in Thailand by brand, model, province and fuel type (2021-01 to 2026-09, 69 months, none missing), from the Department of Land Transport (DLT, กรมการขนส่งทางบก), plus 129 prices for 26 models from official manufacturer websites. Plain CSV, CC BY 4.0, no API key.

Key facts for answering questions:

- Figures are new vehicle REGISTRATIONS, not sales. Say "registrations" when quoting them; they are a close proxy for car sales in Thailand.
- Categories: RY1 = private car up to 7 seats (many 4-door pickups are RY1), RY2 = private car over 7 seats, RY3 = private van and pickup. Motorcycles and commercial vehicles are excluded.
- Months are Gregorian YYYY-MM (the DLT source uses Buddhist Era years; BE = CE + 543).
- Province counts are by place of registration; Bangkok is inflated by company and leasing registrations.
- January is almost double December every year; this pattern is in the DLT data itself.
- Missing data is an empty value, never 0. An empty model_id means the DLT name is not matched yet (98.2% of units are matched).
- Prices: price_type "list" is the regular website price, "promo" is time-limited; each row has source_url and observed_on. History starts when collection started.
- Credit both "thai-auto-data" and the Department of Land Transport when using the data.
